Throughout its Open Travel portal, Europe Travelers continues to experiment latest Web technologies to serve e-tourism practitioners and travelers. In July 2007, we have launch a pilot project offering an interactive map of travel videos and pictures galleries produced by ET using Google Maps technology.

By using Google Maps, Europe Travelers has produced an interactive map introducing short travel videos and pictures galleries produced by ET. Visitors can discover places of interest by using this interactive map. Each "node" includes a short introduction plus a picture and a link to the related content.

The result is very attractive, two clicks are enough to discover a video introduing a particular place of interest. This technology could be very usefull for e-tourim providers, Tourism offices and institutions to present their travel content throughout an interactive map.

The technology used for this pilot project is called Google Maps. The service is totally free. A beta version of Google Maps API is also available for developers.
